The Maritime Provinces of Canada offer an exciting adventure to a totally different cultural experience than French Canada. Based on the Scottish and English settlers, especially those who arrived in 1783 when they were "displaced" from the New United States. They were the "loyalists" who chose to side with England during the Revolutionary War. When things didn't go as they had hoped, they left the USA for life in British owned Canada, and have been there ever-since. Some French who were already there for several generations, were displaced and went to what is now Louisiana. The Acadians as they were called in Canada became the "Cajuns" in Louisiana. And the stories go on.
Nova Scotia (New Scotland) is full of history aod lots of stories from Alexander Graham Bell's home to the dramatic Ocean area of Cape Breton Island.
Prince Edward Island is just plain lovely. A verdant Green color of the rolling hills, to the seafaring Lobstermen, and, of course, PEI mussels found on the menu of most American restaurants. Simply - the best. Also, home of Anne of Green Gables - you will see ALL of this on our 7 to 9 day Tours of Atlantic Canada - The Maritimes. New Brunswick Province is adjacent to Maine with a dramatic coastline on the Bay of Fundy. Atlantic Canada 5-9 Days from $799.
