Lovely Historic City on the Delaware River. A major port city approximately 100 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. In 1776 it was the most populous city in the Colonies. By the first official census in 1790, it was #2 behind New York City. You must-see the Historic Sights which are all near Independence Mall - Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Carpenters Hall, City Tavern = Top restaurant - NOTE - lunch or Dinner at City Tavern is included on many of our Philadelphia Tours - About 1 mile west is Fairmont Park and the Art Museum, Rocky Steps Rodin Museum, Rittenburg Square, and, all along the Schuykill and Delaware Rivers from Port Jervis down to Delaware Bay. Chadds Ford, the Main Line. Historic Train Rides, Amtrak to 30th Street Station, Reading Terminal Market - which offers very fresh vegetables, Amish food and furniture stalls, Arts and Crafts, all right in the heart of the City. The Mummer's Parade on New Year's Day is outstanding.
